Six years ago, Stephen Moser, Style Avatar at the Austin Chronicle, was given six months to live. Although his battle with prostate cancer continues, he’s never felt better. Moser’s first collection in nearly a decade hits the runway November 11 at the Driskill hotel. Appropriately, the show benefits Hospice Austin.
ON MOSER
“These jeans are from my new collection. I’m doing frock coats worn over a very modern slim jean for the men.”
ON THE HANGER
“This is the one that Will Wynn, when he was mayor, wore in my fashion show. While on the runway, he took off the jacket and dropped it, walking completely barechested the length of the runway. It was great; it was so much fun.”
ON THE MANNEQUIN
“This necklace is made up of all kinds of different amulets and charms and little gifts that people gave me when I was diagnosed with cancer. People came out of the woodwork for me. I couldn’t believe it. I had this dog collar and I really wanted something on it and I can’t help but feel like it brought me good luck.
ON AUSTIN
“[Austin] is it for me. Everywhere else is fun and glamorous, but when the glamour fades and it isn’t quite so glittery, I like to come home to Austin.”
ON LIFE AND FASHION
“Less is never more. More is more. And that’s what I live by.”
