After much anticipation, the OUTsider Festival will officially kickoff this Wednesday – and you can definitely count on this queer, multi-arts fest to debut with a bang. The inaugural festival boasts a fascinating opening night featuring legendary performance artist Narcissister, who’s been dubbed by Huffington Post as, “the topless feminist superhero of New York.” Narcissister will be concocting a “wicked brew of cinematic risqué,” shortly followed by the unveiling of the world’s first Gay Wax Museum, set to include projects from 16 artists – and that’s just opening night.
What started as a conversation amongst friends and creatives, has now grown into a full-fledged festival, complete with a variety of creative works from artists all around the country, a unique approach to panels with Conferences on the Couch, academic insight and tons of audience interaction. The most exciting part of it all: this new festival is expected to be unlike anything Austinites have ever experienced before and if you want to know exactly how it differs from past arts and film festivals, you’ll really have to experience it for yourself.
The festival runs throughout the weekend with an impressive first-year line up, so much so that we couldn’t just mention a few – so here’s the complete OUTsider schedule:
