Music: Mother Falcon’s Homecoming

Mother Falcon, Austin’s electrifying indie orchestral rock band, is embarking on a West Coast tour, but before they hit the road, they’ll headline a pair of shows in their hometown. The 13-piece collective is elaborate – strings, percussion, guitars and horns, layered with tranquilizing harmonies and a fine display of eloquent, story-like lyricism. Since its establishment in 2008, the orchestra has brought an inventive and fresh spin on the traditional symphony, blending elements of pop, hip-hop, jazz and rock. Simply put, you have to see it – and hear it – to believe it. The band is set to perform at the Long Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, followed by a show at Mohawk Austin with Secrets singer Roger Sellars and hip-hop band Magna Carda (featuring L Style G Style’s own Megz Tillman!).
