There’s only one way to get to know the real Melissa Etheridge – when she rolls into town for her acclaimed This Is M.E. tour. The Academy- and Grammy Award-winning singer makes a stop in Austin this Thursday at Austin City Limits Live. Known for her hits, Etheridge takes the stage to perform songs from her newest album, This Is M.E., as well as popular hits like “I’m The Only One” and “Come to My Window.” She’s expressed her excitement surrounding the tour, hinting that fans can be “prepared for a high voltage show with nonstop energy.” She’ll be joined by singer-songwriter Alexander Cardinale.
Aside from her celebrated vocals, deep-seated lyricism and electric stage presence, Etheridge is well-known for her long-time advocacy in the LGBT community. She publicly came out as a lesbian in 1993 and since then has been a committed gay rights activist. Recently, she tied the knot with writer and producer Linda Wellam.
