There’s only one place in town where you can catch the trifecta of film screening, drag show, and performance art, all benefiting a cause, and it’s called the Diva Relay Cabaret. Presented by Weird City Sisters and Capture the Flag Collective, the benefit kicks off this Thursday night with a film screening of Children of the Cockettes, a documentary by California filmmaker Mister WA (who will also be in attendance) exploring the popularity of glam gender, theater, queer art, performance, and the LGBT community in contemporary San Francisco.
After the screening, MCs Goldie LaMelee, Ladyboy Johnson and Miss Alabama Slamma will put on a drag show followed by performances all night long featuring artists like Issa Ru, Hep Kat-Mama, Tanta Lastyx and more. DJ Joseph Noctum of Libations & Oscillations will spin tunes. A suggested cover of $5, raffles and donation tips benefit both Project Transitions and the Tinderbox art grant.
