2220

Have you noticed random works of art popping up all around Central Austin – a giant red popsicle at the foot of the Congress Bridge, a video installation projected onto the side of Frank’s, or most recently, “Black and Blue,” a vibrant street mural located on East 4th street? Five in all, these temporary installations are a taste of what’s to come starting this weekend. For three days, the first ever POP Austin International Art Show will showcase works by acclaimed contemporary artists from all over the world. With the goal to make Austin a “capital of culture,” and an annual meeting place for artists, collectors, and dealers, POP brings prestigious and inspiring artistic talents to the city while also featuring local artists in innovative and interactive ways.

POP Austin will spotlight art from renowned artists including, OBEY GIANT artist Shepard Fairey, New York street artist Alec Monopoly, Austin artist Jason Archer, and most anticipated, art legend Andy Warhol. The art show will also feature lectures and seminars for art enthusiasts to enjoy.
