CareBOX Program is making plans for our first annual Stand Up for CareBOX Program event to be held on Thursday, April 28, at the downtown office of Atlassian, featuring stand-up comedy provided by Stand Up Empire, silent auction, music, food and drinks from Tito’s and Shiner Bock. The success of this event is credited largely to our sponsors who lend their names and financial support.
The CareBOX Program (CareBOXProgram.org) addresses a serious gap in services for cancer patients and their families in Central Texas. We provide essential care supplies to support cancer patients in their homes. Patients are referred by Texas Oncology, Seton Medical Center, St. David’s Hospital, Dell Children’s Hospital and others. Most families leave the hospital overwhelmed and unprepared to care for a sick child or adult with cancer. CareBOX Program helps patients and their families identify needed items, collects donations, and delivers the supplies directly to their homes.
Since the program launched in October 2014, we have increased the quality of life and reduced the financial burden faced by over 95 Central Texas cancer patients and their families, with over $50,000 worth of care supplies delivered directly to their doors. In 2016, our goal is to provide CareBOXes to more than 500 cancer patients in Central Texas, delivering $250,000 worth of essential care supplies.
