Austin’s beloved Sunday night showcase Soul of a Musician Series kicks off the second half of their Spring concert lineup, which will include many exciting musical acts and compelling conversation between the artists and the local community. All concerts will take place on Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at The Iron Cactus North, located at 10001 Stonelake Blvd, Austin, Texas 78759. The shows are free and open to the public.

“At the heart of the Soul Series is a deep affection for musicians themselves,” said Reverend Merrill Wade, Rector, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and Soul of a Musician Series Founder. “In their poetry and music they address basic challenges that each of us deal with over and over in our lives. We need artists because they give voice and rhythm to the spiritual and emotional complexity of our lives, and they need to know how deeply we appreciate them! Our next eight shows offer a rich diversity of musical genre and presentation. Come and join us as we explore the creativity and spirituality of Austin’s finest.”

The 2016 Soul Series spring calendar continues with the following acts:

    May 15 – Calliope Musicals

    May 22 – Cilantro Boombox

    June 5 – Mobley

    June 12 – Patrice Pike

    June 19 – Tim Easton

Four years ago, Rev. Merrill Wade of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church launched the Soul of a Musician series as an outlet for Austin musicians to play music in a loving, receptive environment and explore the various emotional and spiritual dimensions of their sound. What began as a small scale concert series to provide a safe haven for Austin’s working musicians has ignited a movement to provide a much needed platform for musicians to express their spiritual needs and creativity through music and through open discussion. The series continues to provide a therapeutic outlet for Austin’s finest musicians as they discuss their songwriting and spirituality.
