It’s been nearly forty years since The Manhattan Transfer exploded on to the music scene with their distinct four-part a cappella and jazz sound. Since then they have earned worldwide sales in the millions, GRAMMY awards by the dozen and numerous sold-out world tours. Their ’80s hit, “The Boy from New York City” made The Manhattan Transfer the first artist to receive GRAMMYs in both the pop and jazz categories in the same year. Not willing, or able, to rest on their laurels, the band has topped the charts in holiday standards, children’s music, ’50s and ’60s pop, boogie-woogie and swing. They have shared the stage with Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, Smokey Robinson, Phil Collins, B.B. King, Chaka Khan, James Taylor, and Frankie Valli.
