Janet Adderley is bringing over 25 years of experience to Austin in the form of a brand new Adderley Austin performing arts and theater program, starting with the upcoming Adderley Open House on August 23 at Ballet Austin.

Janet is a Broadway and television actress who founded her school for performing arts in 1993 (http://theadderleyschool.com/about-us/).  A Yale University graduate, she made her debut in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical STARLIGHT EXPRESS and appeared in several television series. She splits her time between Montecito, California and Austin, and is the proud mother of two daughters, Akina and Alana Adderley, who will be her partners in ADDERLEY Austin, a new program she is developing here. You may have heard of Akina Adderley & The Vintage Playboys, an R&B/Soul group here in town.

Janet has worked in LA and Santa Barbara for over 25 years in musician theatre instruction. Janet has worked extensively coaching young actors for TV and film, including Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland, Pitch Perfect star Ben Platt, Alicia Morton in the lead role of Annie for Disney and the Cheetah Girls for their film debut on the Disney channel. She’s also taught young students of celebrity parents such as Steven Spielberg, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Meg Ryan and Randy Newman.

Her students have gone on to perform with Andrea Bocelli, record with Rod Stewart, Michael Bublee, Lionel Richie, perform for Oprah Winfrey and on Broadway.

She is doing an open house at Ballet Austin on Aug 23rd for an introduction of a long term program in the Austin community which will be starting mid-September (after school) for kids ages 3 to 18. Classes will be once a week and will culminate in an age appropriate abridged version of a Broadway musical. She is also doing pop up summer camp at Bar Three from Aug. 10 to 21 for ages 3 to 7.
