Global folk group Ley Line announces single release party at Radio Coffee and Beer

On the cusp of their recent return from a 30-date Brazilian tour, Austin-based global folk group Ley Line announces an official single release show for Thursday, Nov. 30 at Radio Coffee and Beer. The event is free and open to the public. Doors are at 7 p.m. The evening will feature an opening performance by Olivia Quillio at 7:30 p.m. with Ley Line beginning at 8:30 p.m. For more information on the band, please see www.leylinesound.com.

This first single entitled “Respiração (The Breath)” was recorded at Sweetheart Studios with Seth Gibbs and mastered by Claudio Ramírez. Ley Line will be back in the studio in February of next year to begin production of a “visual album project” that was shot on their recent Brazilian tour. Leandro Cesar (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) will co-produce the album in Austin, Texas in February and March.

Ley Line recently returned from their first international tour through Brazil. Hosted by more than 30 venues between Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul and Recife, Pernambuco, the band presented a vibrant collection of multilingual songs that traverse the landscape of global folk music. To see Ley Line performing live at Casa de Trocas, São Paulo Brazil on June 22, click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4L-47mGVjw&app=desktop. With the help of a local film crew, Ley Line produced a series of short documentaries featuring the unique places, artistic collaborations and people that influenced their music along the way.

Based in Austin, Texas but guided by a love for travel and exploration, the four women of Ley Line fluidly traverse languages and genres to unite audiences around the world. Songs rooted in blues, soul and folk are infused with rhythms and influences from Brazil, Latin America and West Africa. The blending of standup bass, guitar, percussion and ukulele envelops the dynamic vocal harmonies that run like a current through Ley Line’s music.

Ley Line’s debut album “Field Notes” explores the landscape of global folk music, from Brazilian forró to Spanish healing songs, Swahili gospel to vintage pop. In the summer of 2017, Ley Line embarked on their second self-managed tour, traveling 3,000 miles across Brazil. They are currently working on the production of a visual album, incorporating footage from their time in Brazil to capture the essence of the people, places and musical traditions that influence their innovative sound.
