Created especially for girls in grades 3 – 8 and for the adults who care about them, We Are Girls Conference is an annual statewide event produced by Girls Empowerment Network in Austin and Houston. Its 2015 theme is “Tell Your Story,” featuring skill-building workshops and presentations that connect girls to role models and encourage healthy relationships, educational discovery, and creative self-expression. More than 1,600 girls and adults attended the Austin conference in 2014. Cost is $30 and includes lunch. Featured speakers in Austin include:
-Jamia Wilson, Executive Director of Women, Action & the Media
-Maya Gonzalez, author and illustrator for books including Call Me Tree (2014), helping teachers build cultural awareness to promote a positive identity for all learners

Plus dozens of workshops from Austin organizations and women leaders, providing creative and inspirational activities and conversations for all ages.
