Austin Babtist Women Celebrate Easter with 29th Annual “Gospelfest”

Dek:  The all-male, all-volunteer comedy fundraising troupe host their 29th annual “Gospelfest” variety show on Easter Sunday, March 27th, at Oilcan Harry’s in downtown Austin to benefit the Wright House Wellness Center.

The all-male, all-volunteer comedy fundraising troupe, the Austin Babtist Women, will celebrate their 29th annual “Gospelfest” on Easter Sunday, March 27th.  Benefiting regional non-profit organization Wright House Wellness Center, the show takes the stage at Oilcan Harry’s, located at 211 W. 4th Street in downtown Austin, beginning at 7 pm.

This year’s “Gospelfest” variety show features special guest entertainers from throughout Texas, along with a selection of the Austin Babtist Women’s popular production numbers.

Created in 1986, the Austin Babtist Women have become an incredibly-respected charitable force, performing throughout the nation to raise money for HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and other charitable causes.  The troupe of five male actors take-on the personas of little old Southern church ladies and stage elaborately choreographed, side-splitting routines – raising more than $8 million dollars along the way for charity.

The Austin Babtist Women were originally created as a one-time charity performance in 1986 for the Texas Gay Rodeo, but demand for their shows has led to a three-decade run of fundraising for charities throughout Central Texas and across the nation.  This year’s “Gospelfest” will benefit the Wright House Wellness Center, a regional non-profit organization that improves the lives of Central Texans living with, at risk for, and affected by HIV, AIDS and Hepatitis C.

Admission to the Austin Babtist Women’s 29th Annual “Gospelfest” is a $5 suggested donation at the door.  Oilcan Harry’s is located at 211 W. 4th Street in downtown Austin.  For more information, visit www.BabtistWomen.com.
