The all-male, all-volunteer comedy fundraising troupe, the Austin Babtist Women, will celebrate their 29th annual Anniversary Show on Sunday, August 30th.  Benefiting the charities of the Texas Gay Rodeo Association, the free show takes the stage at Oilcan Harry’s, located at 211 W. 4th Street in downtown Austin, beginning at 7 pm.

This year’s Anniversary Show features special guest entertainers from throughout Texas, and serves as the closing event for this year’s Austin Pride 2015 weekend of celebration.

Created in 1986, the Austin Babtist Women have become an incredibly-respected charitable force, performing throughout the nation to raise money for HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and other charitable causes.  The troupe of five male actors take-on the personas of little old Southern church ladies and stage elaborately choreographed, side-splitting routines – raising more than $8 million dollars along the way for charity.

The Austin Babtist Women were originally created as a one-time charity performance for the Texas Gay Rodeo (TGRA), but demand for their shows has led to an almost-three-decade run of fundraising.  The TGRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to elevating the image of women and men in the field of rodeo while simultaneously engaging in charitable activities.  During their 32-year history of gay rodeos, the TGRA has donated more than $2.75 million to Texas charities.

Admission to the Austin Babtist Women’s 29th Annual Anniversary Show is a $5 suggested donation at the door.  Oilcan Harry’s is located at 211 W. 4th Street in downtown Austin.  For more information, visit www.BabtistWomen.com.
