2014 was a big year for San Marcos. Hundreds of residents turned out and showed their support for the city’s first ever Pride festival, and the first gay bar opened shortly thereafter. Keeping that momentum going, the Bobcat Pride Scholarship Fund is hosting their 4th Annual Drag Out Funny, comedy, drag, and variety show. The night of giggles and glamour includes a silent auction, and raises scholarship money for LGBTQ Texas State students and will be hosted at The Marc, 120 East San Antonio Street, San Marcos, Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 7:00pm. Tickets are available at https://bpsf.ticketbud.com/
This year’s expanded variety show features fantastic talent from San Marcos and beyond, and promises to be a night to remember. The Mistress of Ceremonies for this evening of flash and laughs is Chitah Daniels Kennedy. Guests will be treated to performances by a star-studded cast, featuring Caroline Bassett, Daniel Rugg Webb, Gusty Winds, Pannica Tack, Ginger Snaps, Micheal Foulk, Maggie Criss, and Chris Skinner. Acclaimed hostesses for the night are Gia De La Flor, Nicole Lucas, and Aria Rose.
“Each year this show gets bigger, brighter, and more amazing,” Executive Director, Heather Aidala told us. “This has become a highly anticipated event in San Marcos because it is unlike any other show in town, and previous patrons start asking me in November if we have the date set. We know people driving in from Corpus Christi to see it!” Aidala continued, “In four years we have awarded over $18,000 in scholarship monies, and for the 2015-2016 academic year our goal is to award $2500 to our Academic Achievement scholars each semester! The generosity of our donors and the success of Drag Out Funny, our largest community fundraiser, are key factors in our success.”
Doors open at 7:00 pm, with the performances kicking off at 8:00 pm. Ages 18+ are welcome; photo IDs will be required. All are welcome to attend from the Texas State and surrounding communities, inclusive of LGBTQ individuals and straight allies. General admission tickets for this standing room venue are available at https://bpsf.ticketbud.com/
